FOMCES and Mineral County News
The inspiration began in 2010 when a local 11-year-old boy made history by selling his homemade, 4-layer chocolate cake for $500 (thank you Dillan), all of which he donated to the volunteers of Creede/Mineral County’s Search and Rescue, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Fire Department. Every year since, FOMCES has continued to organize annual Fundraisings efforts. Here are some highlights!
The Mineral County Emergency Services Appreciation Dinner will be Saturday, August 17th at the Virginia Christensen Multi-use Facility (old school gym). Cocktails and silent auction start at 5:30
The gym allows us to host many more people who come out to the gumbo dinner and auction to support our Search & Rescue, EMT's, and Fire Department friends and neighbors that support our community with life saving services. All monies raised goes to buy needed equipment, and training for these teams. The Search & Rescue team, the EMT's, and the Fire Department, often in small towns like Creede, are comprised of the same volunteers. This is our chance to show our appreciation and to thank the many volunteers in Mineral County for their hard work in saving lives and keeping us safe.
Tickets for the gumbo dinner and auction are $15 each now, and $20 at the door.
Tickets can be bought at the Chamber/Visitor's' Center, The Sheriff's Office, at Mountain Views RV Resort office and from FOMCES Board Members. You can also call 970 381-5087, 719 850-0514, and/or 917 680-6742 for tickets.
Also, we are looking for item donations for the live and silent auction. Call the above numbers to donate.
Hope to see you all there!

FOMCES, Friends of Mineral County Emergency Services, puts the “FUN” in fundraising by sponsoring an annual pickleball tournament benefitting Mineral County Emergency Services. All you need is a pickleball paddle and a buddy; we'll do the rest! This event is held at the Creede Recreation Center, or, as most of us like to call it, The Old Gym.
Last year's winners, Jeff and Nancy, with runner-ups Gwen and Jack.
